My Top 8 Photos of 2020-2021
2020 was the first year since 2007 I didn’t make a best-of album, because I only managed to do one photo shoot, just before lockdown. So here’s a consolidated album for both years!
Shot from the roof of Fort Point, with the Golden Gate Bridge framing the lighthouse, backlit by the setting sun. I think this is my favorite shot of the year!
My favorite shot from this headshot session might be a bit intense, but I like how he’s staring into the viewer’s soul. :P
Oceano Dunes near Pismo Beach was amazing. Mere feet away are both the ocean and a nearby town, but when you’re in the middle of the dunes, it feels like you’re in the Sahara!
After hiking up San Bruno Mountain on a foggy morning, we were treated to these ominous-looking radio tower facilities. That’s the sun trying its hardest to burn through the fog.
And finally, a couple of shots from the Ballet Roots Dance Company debut rehearsal, my only photo shoot of 2020. I like how the framing worked out on both of these.
Hopefully, I’ll get to shoot more in 2022. In the meantime, you can find my previous years’ best-of albums here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/toasty/collections/72157603622991173/
Bonus photos!
During lockdown, I also re-processed a couple of my favorite old photos:
See also version 1 (2006) and version 2 (from 2010). In my latest version, I cleaned up the window behind the couple to clarify their silhouette a bit. I took this picture 15 years ago now, on an early digital point-and-shoot, but it’s still one of my favorites.
”Our Love Can Never Be”
I originally shot this in 2011 at the Mysore Zoo, but I added a more cinematic, cooler color grading.
Happy New Year, everyone. Here’s hoping 2022 is better for us all than 2020-2021.
